Boston March for Science 2018

Boston March for Science 2018

We are proud to announce that we will be doing a 2018 March for Science in Boston!

PLEASE RSVP AND SHARE: http://marchforscienceboston.betterfutureproject.org/rsvp

PLEASE DONATE AND SHARE - https://marchforscienceboston-betterfutureproject.nationbuilder.com/donate

At the 2017 March for Science, tens of thousands of us came together to defend science against the assault by leaders in our federal government, and to proclaim the importance of science in public policy and celebrate the discovery, understanding, and sharing of scientific knowledge as crucial to the success, health, and safety of the human race. Together, we were part of more than one million people around the world who gathered together in the largest event for science advocacy in history.

On Saturday, April 14th, we will continue to use the momentum of last year’s march to once again lift up these same themes and ideals, but we won't stop there. In 2018, we'll also take the offensive and rally behind specific climate legislation that will advance certain science- and evidence-based policy in the Massachusetts state legislature, with an eye to passage this year. In 2018 in Massachusetts, science is striking back!

Please spread the word far and wide and join us for this historic occasion!

Please note that this year's rally will still contain a broader focus on the importance of science in policy, the need for well-funded scientific research, and the importance of diversity and inclusion within the sciences, but for Boston, our theme this year will be around climate science, and advancing science-based climate policy in the Massachusetts State Legislature.

Green House Fest Coming to Brookline
12:00 PM12:00

Green House Fest Coming to Brookline

Mothers Out Front Brookline will present the first Green House Fest in Brookline on Sunday, April 8, 2018, from noon to 3 pm.  During this time, residents will open their homes to display a variety of energy efficiency features, including electric vehicles, heat pumps, solar panels, induction stoves, on-demand hot water heaters, and other energy-saving devices.  Participants in the Green House Fest will have access to a paper map, showing the location of participating homes and the devices featured, as well as an on-line tool with additional information.

Twenty-seven locations, from Cleveland Road in the west to Toxteth Street in the east,  will display energy-saving features.  Ten different energy-saving options will be displayed, including solar power, electric or hybrid vehicles, heat pumps, geothermal heating, energy monitoring, insulation, water heating units, induction stoves, water saving features, and home compost systems.  In addition, cooking demonstrations on induction stoves will take place in two locations.

More than 70 people have already signed up to participate in the event.  They will have the opportunity to meet with Brookline homeowners and learn first-hand about their experiences with the devices featured.  This grass-roots communication will help participants to understand better how to upgrade to renewable sources of energy and reduce reliance on fossil fuels, thereby fighting climate change.  In addition, participants will learn about the cost savings available through these measures.

“We’re offering this opportunity to encourage, educate, and empower people to reduce their carbon footprint and make educated decisions to protect the future of our children,” said Daria Mark, Green House Fest organizer.  Additional information is available at www.GreenHouseFest.org.  This event is part of Brookline Climate Week.
