Enjoying nature in Ireland, but missing Boston!
I started BostonGreenBlog in 2010 as a way to share my journey to lighter-impact living. At the time, I was a recent college graduate working a tedious administrative job, so I needed a creative outlet in which I could pour my passion. I’ve always been a self-proclaimed environmentalist, and I had just rented my first apartment. For the very first time, I was making decisions about furniture, utilities, doing my own grocery shopping, etc., and I wanted to do it all with the earth in mind. But how does a renter on a super-tight budget make decisions that really impact the earth in a positive way?
That was the question I aimed to answer, and the blog was born. Over the years, it became so much more. It became a digital community and a helpful resource for Boston residents. The blog also changed my life - I made new friends, started other blogs, attended countless events, and even received job offers - all from my little passion project.
Four apartments and eight years later, it came time for me to leave Boston. In the winter, my husband was offered an opportunity at Hubspot’s Dublin office, and I leaped at our chance to travel the world and become immersed in the culture of a new city. But it was bittersweet to think that I’d be leaving BostonGreenBlog behind, so I was thrilled and honored when Casey, who had been writing for the blog for a few months, offered to take it over and keep it alive.
Casey is incredibly passionate and not only a dedicated environmentalist but also an intelligent and talented writer and leader. I am beyond happy to pass BostonGreenBlog to Casey’s capable hands. I hope you’ll continue to follow our journey to conscious, earth-friendly living in Boston and beyond!
